GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy defeated Keystone Monday evening, 92-75, in front of an energetic crowd at the Griffin Complex.  With the win the Griffins have now won five in a row in Colonial States Athletic Conference action and seven of their last eight contests overall.

The Griffins (10-4, 6-1 CSAC)  needed a second-half spark and found it from their bench with Julian Hyden (Trevose, Pa. / Bensalem) scoring 14 points and Cedric Elleby (Monroeville, N.J. / Delsea) chipping in 11 to help to GM score 59 second-half points.  For the game Hyden and Arron Goodman (Newtown, Pa. / Council Rock North) led the Griffins with 16 points apiece. Darnell Artis (Philadelphia, Pa. / LaSalle College H.S.) also reached double figures, scoring 14 and Elleby ended the night with 13.

Tom McKeefery (North Cape May, N.J. / Lower Cape May) gave the Griffins their largest lead of the first half (21-14) with his jumper at the 10:35 mark.  The Griffins would hold court until Ben Holl buried three long balls in consecutive possessions to close out the first half for the Giants, giving Keystone the 35-33 lead heading into the break.

After taking a one-point lead early in the second, the Griffins would spread their wings and dominate the rest of the stanza.  A Brian Hennessey (Philadelphia, Pa. / Father Judge) two hand jam ended the first run to give GM a 43-38 lead at the 15:45 mark.  Hyden followed with a jumper to give Gwynedd their first double-digit point lead (57-46) at the 12:09 mark and then connected on a three pointer the next possession forcing the Giants to call timeout. Elleby would stretch the lead to twenty one (74-53) with his tip-in put back with just under seven minutes remaining he then also gave GM their largest lead of the game 86-62 with his fast break layup with 4:36 remaining.  The Griffins shot 56.7% (17-of-30) during the second half, knocking down (4-of-8) from behind the arc as well to seal the 92-75 victory.

For the game, the Griffins bench outscored the Giants, 44-26.  GM also won the battle on the boards, 41-33, McKeefery and Elleby leading Gwynedd each pulling down nine boards each respectively.

Lunsford (21), Miles Dargan (14), Holl (13) and Dan Candemeres (11) reached double figures for the Giants in the scoring column.

The Griffins will return back to action on Wednesday night hosting Centenary at the Griffin Complex.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
