SCRANTON, PA. – Marywood used a late goal to go on and defeat Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday in a Colonial States Athletic Conference matchup.

The Pacer's Kimberly Commisso netted her sixth goal of the game, a match high, with 41 seconds remaining. The Griffins were able to win the ensuing draw control to make a last push, but a shot from Jenna Gaydosh (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) was stopped by Marywood goalie Leigha Dolcemascolo with 10 seconds in regulation.

Gaydosh would finish with a team-high six points on three goals and two assists. Sophomore Dani Horn (Colmar, Pa./North Penn) and freshman Danae Perrymond (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) also had three tallies each, but the Griffins (3-12, 2-6 CSAC) their second one-goal loss this week. On Tuesday, Centenary outlasted GM, 16-15, in overtime.

After opening scores from Perrymond and Casey Gaughan (Philadelphia, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) gave way to seven-straight Pacer goals over a six-minute span. Gaydosh and Horn would combine to score the next five and it was a 7-7 game with 9:05 in the half. Commisso would net the final tally of the stanza, giving Marywood a 10-9 lead at the break.

Commisso would strike twice at the 9:36 and 8:55 mark of the second for a 14-12 lead. Perrymond answered with a goal with an assist from Gaydosh (7:41) while Amy Powell (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) tied it at 14-14 at the 6:09 mark.

Both teams went scoreless over the next five and a half minutes before Commisso would net the eventual game-winner.

The Griffins will close out the 2013 season with a road matchup at Drew University on Tuesday starting a 6 p.m.
