BOX SCORE

LAPLUME, PA. -- #15 Keystone drew first blood in the weekend series with Gwynedd-Mercy, as the Giants clipped the Griffins, 4-1, to end Gwynedd's four-game win streak.

The two teams will meet tomorrow in a doubleheader in Gwynedd Valley starting at noon.

Keystone's Rob Rodgers limited the Griffin hitters to just four hits while striking out 10 and allowing an unearned run. Matt Rakus (Washington Twp., N.J./St. Augustine) fanned five, but yielded four runs (two unearned) on 11 hits as the sophomore was dealt his second loss of the season.

After the Giants (25-7, 13-1 CSAC) plated two runs in the second, Gwynedd answered with a two-out RBI single from Greg Brooks (Voorhees, N.J./St. Joseph's Prep PA) to cut the deficit in half.

The Griffins (19-11, 11-2 CSAC) looked to threaten in the sixth getting runners at first and second with one out. Rodgers was able to get GM to hit into one of their two double plays to end the inning.

Rakus also used a key double play ball in the bottom half of the sixth with runners on the corners to escape any damage.

Ricky Riscica added a two-run single in the eighth for some insurance runs.

Brooks had two of the four Griffin hits. Freshman David Blount (Croydon, Pa./Harry S. Truman) scored a run and stole  base.
