GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. --  The Griffins had their four-game win streak come to an end in a 10-4 non-conference loss to Widener on Wednesday.

After Gwynedd (15-10) plated three runs in the fourth to take a 4-3 lead, Widener (11-15) answered with a two-spot in the fifth. The Pride  then broke open a close one-run game with two in the eighth and three in the ninth.

Senior Josh Martin (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) and junior John Burns (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) each went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Widener's Jake Tackett was 3-for-6 with a two-run double in the eighth.

After the fourth, the Griffin offense was derailed as the Widener bullpen yielded two baserunners the rest of the way. The GM defense committed four errors.

Freshman Beau Fleming (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan) went five innings, giving up five runs (one earned) on nine hits, suffering the loss.

The Griffins will begin a weekend series with Immaculata a day earlier as Friday's single game at IU has been pushed up to tomorrow in a 3 p.m. start. The DH on Saturday in Gwynedd Valley is still slated for noon.
