ABINGTON, PA. --   Gwynedd-Mercy was held to four hits in falling to Penn State-Abington, 5-0, on Saturday.

Freshman David Blount (Croydon, Pa./Harry S. Truman) had two of the four hits, going 2-for-4.

PSU's Mark McCouch went the distance, striking out four while walking two. Tom Ditro had two hits and two runs scored while A.J. Vagliani was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.

Gwynedd-Mercy (10-6) tried to get ahead early, getting runners on the corners with two outs in the first, but a pop up ended the inning.

The Lions scored two runs in the third, one in the fourth and one in the sixth off of GM starter Jamey Minnemeyer (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic). The sophomore yielded four runs (three earned) on nine hits in six innings of work with three strikeouts. Freshman Beau Fleming (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan) tossed two innings with a run allowed on one hit.

The Griffins return to action on Tuesday when they host Misericordia at 4 p.m.
