GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Rowan snuck by Gwynedd-Mercy, 4-2, on Thursday in non-conference action.

David Blount (Croydon, Pa./Harry S. Truman) had two of the eight Griffin hits as the freshman also added an RBI and a stolen base.

The Profs plated a run in the second and third to put Gwynedd in a 2-0 deficit. GM got on the board in the fifth when sophomore Jordano Rodriguez (Philadelphia, Pa./Marianna Bracetti) drove in Rick Elfreth (Washington Twp., N.J./St. Augustine) with two outs to cut it to a one-run game.

Rowan's Nick Kreiger, who earlier knocked in a run in the second, struck again in the sixth as part of a two-run frame to put the Profs (11-4) up 4-1.

The Griffins looked to answer in the bottom of the frame getting the bases loaded with one out, but were unable to take advantage as RU starter Ryan Easterday induced a pair of pop ups to end the threat.

In the seventh, Kurt Taylor (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) hit a two-out double which he would score on Blount's RBI single. Rowan's bullpen would come on and not allow a GM baserunner the rest of the way.

Easterday threw into the seventh, giving up two runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts. Griffin starter Andrew Schaefer (Penndel, Pa./Conwell Egan) gave up four runs (three earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts and three walks.

Gwynedd-Mercy (9-6) will play at New Jersey City tomorrow at 3:30 and then at Penn State-Abington on Saturday at noon.
