GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy picked up their first conference win in Thursday's 19-6 win over Rosemont in CSAC action on a cold, blustery afternoon.
The Griffins (2-1, 1-0 CSAC) rattled off 36 shots and won 19 of 27 draw controls.
Senior
Jenna Gaydosh (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) paced the GM attack with a game-high five goals. Sophomore
Dani Horn (Colmar, Pa./North Penn) added four tallies and three helpers while junior
Amy Powell (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) also poured in four goals.
Lauran Bunyard totaled two goals and two assists for the Ravens (0-2, 0-1 CSAC). Gina Ragona and Brittany Fuller also chipped in two scores.
After scoring the first six goals of the contest, the Ravens tried to answer with three scores in a two-minute span for a 7-3 GM lead. Gwynedd would go on a 9-1 run to close the half to lead 16-4 at the break.
The goalie tandem of juniors
Tori Peacock (Williamstown, N.J./Our Lady of Mercy) and
Erin Janzekovich (Monroe Township, N.J./Monroe Twp.) combined to make six saves. Andrea Dossantos recorded 11 saves for Rosemont.
Sophomore
Casey Gaughan (Philadelphia, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) and freshman
Brianna Greer (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) each recorded two goals and
Jill MacDonald (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and freshman
Danae Perrymond (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) had one each.
Horn and Perrymond also nabbed three groundballs apiece while MacDonald registered three caused turnovers, which was a career-high.
Gwynedd-Mercy continues action on Saturday when they welcome Lycoming in a non-conference tilt starting at 3 p.m.
