GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd-Mercy Women's Lacrosse Team flattened visiting Penn State-Abington, 21-3, Tuesday afternoon for their first win of the season.
Sophomore
Dani Horn (Colmar, Pa./North Penn) paced GM (1-1) with a game-high 11 points (7 goals/4 assists). Senior
Jenna Gaydosh (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) added a career-best five goals in the victory.
Horn had a hand in Gwynedd's first four tallies, all coming in the first 5:11 of the game. She would open the scoring just 16 seconds in and later set up goals from junior
Amy Powell (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) and sophomore
Jill MacDonald (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan). GM would close out the first half by scoring 10-straight goals and lead 14-1 at the break.
Powell finished with four goals, also a career-high while freshman
Danae Perrymond (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) added two scores and three assists. MacDonald,
Casey Gaughan (Philadelphia, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie),
Brianna Greer (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) each had a goal to round out the scoring for the Griffins.
Junior
Erin Janzekovich (Monroe Township, N.J./Monroe Twp.) recorded three saves in net to earn the win. PSU keeper Sarah Snyder-Kamen made one save.
Avery Winn, Nichole Hayes, and Cindy La registered the goals for the Lions (0-2).
Gwynedd-Mercy returns to action right here on Thursday when they welcome Rosemont in a Colonial States Athletic Conference game with a 4 p.m. start.
