GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA -- Gwynedd-Mercy got back on track, defeating Notre Dame of Maryland, 97-25, Saturday Afternoon in the Think Pink theme. The Griffins had six different players score double digits and all 10 Griffins registered a point in the scoring column.
Freshman
Olivia Bradford (Lansdale, Pa. / Christopher Dock) led GM with a team-high 16 points. Sophomore
Kelsey Yori (Folsom, Pa. / Ridley) scored 14 and freshman
C.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa. / Liberty) added 13. Junior
Natasha Matthews (Norristown, Pa. / Norristown) was a rebound short of a double-double with 12 points nine rebounds. Fellow junior
Jordan Dominic (Sellersville, Pa. / Pennridge) connected on three long balls to finish with 11.
The Griffins jumped out to an early 16-4 off of a Dominic three pointer and never looked back. A Yori bucket and free throw put GM on top 29-11 midway through the first half. Hilliard would connect on a jumper to close out the stanza to give the Griffins their largest lead of the half, to take 43-13 heading into the break.
Gwynedd would continue to set the tone in the second half jumping out on an early 24-2 run capped off by back to back three pointers by Bradford along with a Yori layup. Bradford would connect on another three this time to put GM up 88-22 with just over four minutes remaining in the game.
The Griffins shot 47.5% (38-of-80) and connected on 10 three pointers. Gwynedd also forced 43 turnovers on the other end of the floor and capitalized on them turning them into 58 points.
Notre Dame's Kamelya Medina led all scorers with 18 points.
The teams showed their support of breast cancer awareness with special pink warm-up shirts while the Gators wore pink shoelaces.
Gwynedd returns back to action on Wednesday as they travel to Neumann in a 6 p.m. tip-off.
