CLARKS SUMMIT, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy defeated Baptist Bible on Saturday, 85-38, to capture their first Colonial States Athletic Conference victory of the season.

The Griffins (2-5, 1-2 CSAC) came out firing in the first half, knocking down their first six three-point attempts to take a commanding 22-8 lead over the Defenders. Seniors Jordan Dominic (Sellersville, Pa. / Pennridge) and Lauren Smith (Philadelphia, Pa. / Archbishop Ryan) went a combined 6-of-8 behind the arc in the first stanza, each scoring 11 first-half points.

Gwynedd's defensive pressure forced eighteen first half turnovers, which converted into 23 points on the offensive end of the floor. The Griffins hot shooting and strong defensive edge gave them a commanding 45-18 lead heading in to the halftime break.

Both teams would start the second evenly, trading baskets each scoring nine points to start the stanza. From there the Griffins would hold Baptist Bible (0-4, 0-2 CSAC) scoreless for the next 4:34, extending their lead to 60-29 with just over ten minutes remaining in the half. Sophomores C.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa. / Liberty) and Jackie Crowley (Philadelphia, Pa. / Neumann-Goretti) each finished with 10 points in the second half to close out the 85-38 victory.

Dominic finished with a game-high 15 points to lead all scorers. Nicole Dougherty (Huntingdon Valley, Pa. / Lower Moreland), Natasha Matthews (Norristown, Pa. / Norristown) and Chandler DiFebbo (Phoenixville, Pa. / Phoenixville) rounded out the scoring for the Griffins all chipping in eight points apiece respectively.

Gwynedd controlled the boards, outrebounding Baptist Bible 41-19. Kelsey Yori (Folsom, Pa. / Ridley) pulled down a team high six rebounds, she also distributed a team-high six assists. Dominic dished out a personal-best five.

The Lady Defenders were led by Erika Longwell with 13 points. Alyssa Cole added 10 points.

The Griffins return back to action on Tuesday, December 17th when they hit the road at Richard Stockton College.  Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
