(Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), Gwynedd Mercy was able to pull away from Richard Stockton in an 81-71 road win Tuesday night.

Junior Kelsey Yori (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) added 14 points, all coming in the second half as GM (3-5) held the Ospreys (2-5) without a field goal for over a seven-minute span.

The Griffins took an early 10-6 lead with a Smith trey and a Charlotte Kucowski (Philadelphia, Pa. / St. Hubert's) baseline jumper to spark a quick five-point swing. Both teams played evenly throughout the half, seeing four ties and lead changes. Stockton would stretch their largest lead of the half to seven (32-25) but the Griffins battled back to cut the deficit to within three when Kucowski beat the buzzer with her layup underneath the bucket to end the half.

GM still trailed, finding themselves down 55-53 in the second period. From there, Yori led the Griffins second half charge, as she scored all 14 of her points in the stanza.  Sophomore Jackie Crowley (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) tied the game 56-56 with a put back layup.  She then connected on a pair of free throws and a Yori fast-break layup put Gwynedd up 59-55.  Stockton would battle back taking a two point lead but from there the Griffins would go on an 11-0 spurt started by back-to-back buckets from freshman Nicole Dombrowski (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy). Kucowski and Yori both added field goals in the middle of the run and Smith capped it off with her sixth three pointer for a nine-point lead with four minutes to go..

Senior Nicole Dougherty (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) rounded out the Griffin scoring, finishing with 15 points and adding a team-high eight rebounds to give GM a 46-38 edge on the boards.

As a team the Griffins connected on ten three pointers and shot (15-of-18) 83.3% from the charity stripe.

The Ospreys were led by four players in double figures Lauren Alwan (15), Alex Nardoza (13), Sara Farrell (11) and Cara Parliament (10).

The Griffins now will head West, as they travel to Las Vegas to participate in the Vegas Hoopla taking on Eastern Connecticut State on Sunday, December 29th at 2 p.m. and Vassar College the following day, also at 2 p.m.
