GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- DeSales sent Gwynedd Mercy to an 87-60 defeat Wednesday evening at the Griffin Complex.
The Griffins (1-2) shot 36.8% (25-of-68) but committed 27 turnovers. Freshman
Charlotte Kucowski (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) led GM with 14 points and nine rebounds. Senior
Jordan Dominic (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) totaled six points, five assists, four boards, one block, and one steal.
Sondrine Glovas scored a game-high 28 points and Alexiah Grant added 23 for the Bulldogs (3-0), who remained unbeaten.
Tied at 4-4 early on, DeSales used a 13-2 spurt to lead by 11. Gwynedd scratched and clawed to get within seven (37-30) with under a minute left in the stanza, only to see the Bulldogs score seven-straight points to take a 44-30 lead into halftime.
Kucowski's put back off a miss would pull GM to 54-42 with 14 minutes to go, but DeSales would hit the gas pedal for a 19-4 run over the next seven minutes to pull away for good.
DeSales shot 33-of-77 (42.9%) from the floor and outrebounded GM, 50-46.
Gwynedd Mercy continues its season-opening home stand on Saturday when they welcome Juniata in a 2 p.m. start.
