GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy fell to Cabrini 93-80 Wednesday night in front of a packed crowd at the Griffin Complex.

The Griffins (8-7, 7-1 CSAC) placed four players in double figures. Justin Knight (Mays Landing, N.J. / Oakcrest) led Gwynedd with a career-high 23 points as the sophomore knocked down four three pointers for the game.  Freshman Darnell Artis (Philadelphia, Pa. / LaSalle College H.S.) scored 19 on five treys from behind the arc.  Senior Frank Champion (Northfield, N.J. / Mainland) added 16 and sophomore Colin Gates (Boca Raton, Fl. / Grandview Prep) chipped in 11 off of the bench.

The Cavaliers (11-4, 7-1 CSAC) jumped out to an early 13-4 lead, which was their largest of the half. The Griffins would claw back when Knight would score eight-straight points for Gwynedd to put his team up 18-15.  A monster jam from Champion kept momentum on the Griffins side giving them an eight-point cushion and a knight three ball to close out the first half gave Gwynedd a 42-32 lead going into the break.

Gwynedd started the second half hot with back to back Champion layups giving the Griffins their largest lead at 46-34. GM was able to maintain their lead throughout the stanza until the 8:28 mark when Knowles struck again from downtown, giving Cabrini their first lead of the half (64-63).  The Cavaliers would take momentum from that point and used a 27-14 run to close out the game to give the Griffins their first loss in CSAC play.

The Griffins shot 43.3% (26-of-60) from the field and knocked down 11 three pointers. Cabrini however shot a blistering 64.7% for the second half to shoot 56.7% (34-of-60) for the contest. Knowles led the Cavaliers with a game-high 23 points. Aaron Walton-Moss and Fran Rafferty combined to score twenty nine second-half points finishing with 21 and 13 respectively.  Tim McDaniel added 15 off the bench.

GM was able to outrebound Cabrini, 34-31. Knight and freshman Tyler Barnes (New Egypt, N.J. / New Egypt) each grabbed six apiece. Walton-Moss led the Cavaliers with 14 for his first double-double of the season.

The Griffins return back to action on Monday night when the host Keystone as part of a CSAC Twinbill with the women.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. after a 6 p.m. women's game against Cedar Crest.
