CAMDEN, N.J. – Gwynedd-Mercy lost, 9-3, to Neumann on Friday in CSAC action. The game was played at Campbell's Field in Camden, N.J.

The Griffins fall to 9-12 on the season and 0-4 in conference play. Neumann improves to 17-6 and 3-1.

Junior Shane Lynch (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) went 2-for-4 with an RBI triple in the eighth. GM had just three hits in the first seven innings.

The Knights' Russ Gilliam kept the Gwynedd bats in check, fanning eight in seven-plus innings. He was able to retire the side in order in the third, fourth, and fifth innings.

GM would take a 1-0 lead in the second as senior Tom Mackey (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) scored from second on a double steal as the throw to third was wild.

Neumann answered with a bases-clearing double from Matt Grossi in the bottom of the frame to claim a 3-2 edge.  Errors were the culprit in the middle innings leading to Neumann runs in each, aiding in their 9-1 lead after the seventh.

Lynch would score from his triple in the eighth on an RBI single from junior Josh Martin (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X).

Starter Andrew Schaefer (Penndel, Pa./Conwell-Egan) went six innings as the sophomore yielded nine runs (five earned) on 10 hits with three strikeouts and three walks.

The teams will tentatively meet tomorrow in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. in Gwynedd Valley. Should the weather not cooperate, the games will be shifted to Sunday.
