GLASSBORO, N.J. – Gwynedd-Mercy lost their eighth game in a row in falling at #11 Rowan, 6-4, on Tuesday.

The Griffins (8-11) trailed 6-2 going into the ninth, but made things interesting after a two-run double from sophomore John Burns (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy). Rowan would use two pitchers to get a strikeout and fly out to end the game.

Junior Josh Martin (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. His run-scoring double in the first game Gwynedd a quick 1-0 lead.

The Profs answered in the bottom of the frame as C.J. Szymczak drove in two runs on a bases-loaded single. Szymczak struck again in the third as his RBI groundout was part of another two-run inning for a 4-1 Rowan lead.

It was 5-1 in the sixth before freshman Rick Elfreth (Sicklerville, N.J./St. Augustine) drove home Martin, who got on with a lead-off single to cut it to a three-run game.

Mark Magliaro was 3-for-5 with a double and RBI for the Profs (13-4).

Junior Shane Lynch (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) scored twice while going 1-for-4. Burns was 1-for-5.

Gwynedd-Mercy will look to snap their skid tomorrow when they host Penn State-Berks in a 3:30 start.
