IMMACULATA, PA. – Five-straight goals to close the first half helped Gwynedd-Mercy pull away from Immaculata, 15-5, in a Colonial States Athletic Conference game on Saturday.
The Griffins (2-5, 2-2 CSAC) then held the Mighty Macs without a goal over the last 28 minutes of the second to notch their second win on the year.
Seniors
Shannon Carabba (Erdenheim, Pa./Springfield),
Jenna D'Arcy (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), and
Morgan Hosler (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) each had three goals apiece to pace the offense. Freshman
Kelsey Yori (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) added two scores. Yori and senior
Brigid Dowling (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) added two assists each.
GM held a 34-17 shooting edge while holding a 29-24 groundball advantage.
Danielle Lopez registered a goal and two assists for Immaculata (1-6, 1-2 CSAC).
The goalie duo of
Marina Hubbard (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) and
Kelly Kruk (Phoenixville, Pa./Methacton) had four saves apiece.
Gwynedd is back in action on Tuesday, when they travel to Widener for a non-league game starting at 4 p.m.
