CLARKS SUMMIT, PA. -- Behind four scorers in double figures, Gwynedd-Mercy defeated Baptist Bible, 73-65, for their fifth-straight win.

Dan DelConte (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) led the Griffins with 16 points while junior
Frank Champion (Northfield, N.J./Mainland), sophomore
Brandyn Wims (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) and senior
Brandon Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia Electrical) each added 12 respectively.
In a back and forth contest to start the first half, both teams went through six ties and seven lead changes. After the Defenders took their first lead of the game, 19-16, the Griffins answered with a 9-0 spurt to go up, 25-19. The Griffins held a five-point lead at the break, 34-29.
It was more of the same in the second, as the Defenders stayed within arm's reach. After five second-half ties, with the last coming 45-45 with 12:46 left, Wims and Griffins took over.
Wims, who scored all 12 of his points in the second half, would hit a key three-pointer for a nine –point edge with 3:36 on the clock. Gwynedd would connect on a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line down the stretch.
The Griffins shot 44.6% (29-of-65) from the floor and made 12-of-17 from the charity stripe while the Defenders were 46.4% (26-of-56) shooting. The Griffins forced twenty one defender turnovers which led to 22 points.
Champion led the Griffins with nine caroms, but as a team, the Griffins were outrebounded, 33-32.
Dan Dodd paced the Defenders with a double-double performance scoring a game high 22 points and pulling down 18 rebounds. Jordan Greve and Christian Attlesey added 10 apiece.
The Griffins return home Saturday for a 4 p.m. tip-off against CSAC foe Neumann University as part of a CSAC twinbill with the women, who start at 2 p.m.
