UNION, N.J. -- Gwynedd-Mercy opened their 2012 season on the road, falling to third-ranked Kean, 13-0, on Sunday in a rescheduled contest from Saturday.

The Griffins (0-1) were held to two hits. Sophomore Dante Cassano (Cherry Hill, N.J/Cherry Hill East) had two of the team's hits on the day.

Gwynedd saw the Cougars collect seven extra-base hits on the day. Eddie Jennings was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBI's for Kean (2-1).

Freshman Rick Elfreth (Sicklerville, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) suffered the loss. Kevin Herget struck out eight Griffins in seven innings for KU.

Gwynedd-Mercy travels down to Florida for their Spring Break Trip where they'll play eight games in six days. On Saturday, the Griffins take on Pitt-Greensburg in a doubleheader starting at 9 a.m.
