ROSEMONT, PA. -- Four players finished in double figures to help lead Gwynedd-Mercy to an 83-69 CSAC win at Rosemont on Saturday.
Freshman
Shea Wassel (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) led the offense with 18 points and nine rebounds, both personal highs, as the Griffins (7-6, 3-1 CSAC) used a 21-3 run to close the first half in building a 16-point lead at the break.
Senior
Bryn Cotteta (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) added 17 points, freshman
Jess Rotella (Clifton Heights, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) totaled 13 points, seven boards, four assists, and four steals. Sophomore
Jordan Dominic (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) went for 14 points. She and Cotteta combined to hit six of the team's seven three-pointers on the day.
Ashley Montecchio had a game-high 20 points for the Ravens (5-6, 1-4 CSAC), and also added eight rebounds, four steals and three blocks. Teammate Elizabeth Coyne chipped in 17 points and nine caroms.
Dominic hit all of her three-pointers in the last 4:12 of the first half in that scoring stretch, helping turn a 24-22 deficit into a 43-27 lead after the first. In the second stanza, Rosemont got it to within seven (71-64) with 3:35 to play, but GMC clamped down to pull away for good.
The Griffins were able to force 32 turnovers, which led to 36 GM points. GM shot 44.8% (30-of-67) for the contest and hit 16-of-23 attempts from the free-throw line.
Gwynedd-Mercy is back on the road on Monday night, when they travel to Notre Dame for a CSAC matchup beginning at 7 p.m.
