LAKELAND, FL. -- Gwynedd-Mercy fell to Oneonta State, 62-59, Monday afternoon for their third setback in a row. The game was played at NAIA Southeastern University. The Griffins were led by senior guard
Brittany Neill (Woodlyn, Pa./Archmere Academy Del.) who netted a team high fourteen points and pulled down ten rebounds.
The Griffins (5-6) shot 31.7% (20-of-63) for the contest and knocked down six three pointers as a team. Senior guard
Bryn Cotteta (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) chipped in thirteen points, dished out six assists and pulled down five rebounds.
The Red Dragons (6-4) shot 38.8% (19-of-49) from the field and were able to capitalize at the charity stripe, knocking to twenty free throws as a team. Samantha Szkotak led all scorers with a game-high seventeen points, ten of which came in the second stanza. Oneonta also got a spark off their bench with two players contributing double digit efforts: Alyshia Crawford added eleven and Gabi Regan chipped in ten.
Gwynedd was able to outrebound Oneonta, 43-36. Freshman
Jess Rotella (Clifton Heights, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) pulled down six caroms and added seven points with four assists off the bench. The Red Dragons were led by Regan who pulled down seven rebounds.
The Griffins look to end their slide when they return to action tomorrow to take on the host Fire of Southeastern with a 12 p.m. tip off.
