GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- In a close game that featured six ties and four lead changes, Gwynedd-Mercy came up short in a 15-14 non-league loss to Kean Thursday night, breaking the Griffin win streak at six games.

Despite pulling within on goal with under two minutes in the contest, the Cougars were able to run out the clock, keeping the ball out of their defensive end.

Senior Kristi Mackin (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert), junior Shannon Carabba (Erdenheim, Pa./Springfield), and sophomore Brigid Dowling (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) paced the offense with three goals apiece. Sophomore Morgan Hosler (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) added two scores and two assists.

The Griffins (8-4) rallied from a 3-0 deficit to start the game and later trailed 6-3. GM finally tied it at 7-7 on a goal from senior Colleen Dellostretto (Horsham, Pa./Upper Moreland) with 8:32 in the half. Cannon added a late score to knot it 9-9 after 30 minutes.

After three ties in the second, KU's Stephanie Tocko gave Kean the eventual go-ahead tally with 10 minutes and added another score four minutes later for a two-goal lead.

Carabba singlehandedly made it a one-goal game as she knocked down a clearing pass from Kean goalie Ashlie Berghold out of the circle and was able to scoop the ball up and fire in the net to make it a 15-14 lead with 1:43 in the game.

Senior goalie Trisha Timony (Allentown, N.J./Allentown) made nine saves. Berghold recorded seven.

Mackin, Hosler, and junior Kirstyn Varas (Essington, Pa./Interboro) also had two assists each.
