GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy picked up its second win on the season holding off Cazenovia, 14-13, on Saturday.

Junior Colleen Dellostretto (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) led GM (2-0) with six points (4G, 2A). Senior Kristie Pollock (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) added three scores and an assist.

Nicole Kimmel led all scorers with six tallies. Teammate Christy Foster added four for the Wildcats (0-2).

The Griffins (2-0) build a 5-1 lead in the first half, but four-straight goals over a seven-minute span by Cazenovia knotted the contest up at 5-5. Pollock would add in a late score before the break to give GM a 6-5 lead at halftime.

Later leading 9-8 in the second, Gwynedd put together their own four-goal spurt, using scores from Dellostretto, Pollock, junior Shannon Carabba (Erdenheim, Pa./Springfield) and sophomore Kirsten Walther (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) to make it a 13-8 game midway through the stanza.

GM would score just one more time in the game's last 10 minutes allowing the Wildcats to cut away at a 14-10 deficit.

With a two-goal lead, a key save from goalie Trisha Timony (Allentown, N.J./Allentown) with under a minute proved to be the difference as the Wildcats would add a goal with three seconds left to account for the final score.

Timony finished with 13 saves. Cazenovia keeper Christina Marra recorded 11. Cazenovia outshot GM, 32-28.

Senior Kristi Mackin (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) gobbled up 10 ground balls while securing four draw controls and causing two turnovers.

Gwynedd heads south where they'll play two games this week at the Spring Fling 2011 in West Palm Beach, Florida. On Tuesday, the Griffins square off with Wittenberg and on Friday, GM plays Colby-Sawyer.
