GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy's nine-game winning streak came to an end as Cabrini defeated the Griffins 84-73 in a matchup of the top two teams in the CSAC.

The Griffins (16-5, 11-3 CSAC) played well enough to win, but ultimately 13 missed free throws and three-point shooting struggles did fare in the result. Gwynedd finished just 4-for-22 from long range Monday night.

After trailing by four at the break, Gwynedd was able to tie the score at 47 on junior Dan DelConte's (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) steal and fast-break layup with 13:49 to play. The Cavaliers (17-4, 13-1 CSAC), however, responded with a 7-0 run and never trailed again in the victory.

Cabrini's Dom Farrello led all scorers with 25 points and also had team highs of seven rebounds and four steals. Cory Lemons added 15 points for the Cavaliers, who won their 11th in a row.

The Griffins rallied late, pulling within six on a three-point play by senior Jon Hogga (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) with 1:09 left in a regulation, but Cabrini was able to hold off the GM charge with key free-throw shooting down the stretch.

Delconte, the reigning CSAC player of the week, scored a team-high 21 points in the loss. Hogga finished with 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds for a double-double and senior Jon Crabtree (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) added 19 points.

The Griffins will look to begin a new streak Thursday when they travel to Philadelphia Biblical for a CSAC matchup beginning at 7 p.m.
