Five Players Hit For Double Figures In Win Over Notre Dame

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy notched their 10th conference win of the season as they defeated the College of Notre Dame 104-39 Thursday night.

The Griffins (14-8, 10-3 CSAC) had five players in double figures, led by the double-doubles of senior Kristy McGrath (West Chester, PA/Bishop Shanahan) and freshman Taylour Alston (North Wales, PA/North Penn). McGrath had 18 points and a game-high 16 rebounds while Alston led all scorers with 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds.

Gwynedd's totals of 104 points, 63 rebounds, and 35 assists all marked season highs. The defense also held the Gators (3-19, 0-12 CSAC) to just 25% shooting for the contest.

India Scott scored 11 points in the second half and finished with a team-high 15 for the Gators. Cory Santos had team highs of six rebounds and five assists to go along with her 13 points.

Griffin junior Brittany Neil (Woodland, PA/Archmere Academy Del.) hit five of Gwynedd's 13 three-pointers to finish with 17 points. Neil also dished out a game-high seven assists. Freshmen Lauren Smith (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) and Nicole Dougherty (Huntingdon Valley, PA /Lower Moreland) added 13 and 10 points respectively.

Gwynedd will be back in action Saturday when they travel to play CSAC opponent Immaculata in a game scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
