ASTON, PA. – Neumann used a 12-0 run to start the second half to go on and defeat Gwynedd-Mercy, as the Griffins fell, 85-77, Wednesday night in CSAC action.

Bryn Cotteta (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) led the Griffins (2-3, 1-1 CSAC) with 15 points and freshman
Jess Rotella (Clifton Heights, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) added 13.
Gwynedd saw a 40-36 halftime deficit grow as the Knights scored the first 12 points of the second period. Bethany Humenik, who netted a game-high 26 points, converted a three-point play with 16:09 left for a 52-36 score. Neumann would lead by as much as 18 points and later 14 with 5:52 remaining.
Cotteta and the Griffins tried to battle back, cutting the deficit to just 81-75 with 1:10 on the clock on a layup off a steal, but it would be as close as the Griffins would get.
GM won the battle of the boards, 41-36, and forced 25 turnovers which led to 32 points. Freshman
Shea Wassel (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) led Gwynedd with seven boards. The forward, along with sophomore
Nicole Dougherty (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland), each added 12 points apiece.
Humenik was one of four Knights in double figures. Sami Borcky added 13 points and eight rebounds. Laura Scott pulled down a game-high 14 caroms.
The Griffins shot 41.4% (29-of-70) but were just 1-of-8 from downtown.
Gwynedd-Mercy travels to Philadelphia Biblical on Saturday for a CSAC contest starting at 2 p.m.
