GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy defeated Baptist Bible Monday night, 73-59, behind a 24-point performance from senior
Dan DelConte (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon).
DelConte drained six of the team's 10 three-pointers on the evening. Junior
Brendan Stanton (Harleysville, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) sank two, and totaled 14 points.
The Defenders were led by Jordan Greve's 16 points and Dan Dodd's 15. Luke Peterson chipped in 10.
The Griffins (3-1, 2-0 CSAC) took a 45-36 halftime advantage and never looked back.
Freshman
Justin Knight (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) lay-up at the 7:01 mark of the second gave the Griffins their largest lead at twenty (67-47).
Gwnyedd-Mercy shot 44.1% shooting (26-of-59) from the field, including a 56.5% stint in the second. Baptist Bible shot 50% (23-of-46) knocking down three shots behind the arc and making 10-16 from the free throw line. BBC (0-6, 0-1 CSAC) outrebounded the Griffins 32-31.
Senior
Brandon Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia Electrical) pulled down a team-high eight boards and added ten points off of the bench. Dodd was one carom shy of a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds off the bench.
The Griffins' defensive pressure forced 17 Baptist Bible turnovers, leading to 24 points off of the Defenders miscues.
Gwynedd-Mercy will travel to Neumann on Wednesday for a CSAC showdown in an 8 p.m. start.
