WILKES-BARRE, PA. – Behind three players in double figures, Gwynedd-Mercy posted a 71-55 triumph over King's Thursday evening.
Senior Kristy McGrath (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) paced the Griffins with 14 points and 15 rebounds, a career-high. Senior Stacey Judge (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) and freshman Lauren Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) each added 12 .
McGrath also added five assists as Gwynedd (7-3) committed a season-low six turnovers. GM shot 45% in the first half and hit five of their seven three-pointers in the stanza.
Celia Rader led the Lady Monarchs (8-5) with 19 points while Paige Carlin chipped in 14. King's would hold a six-point lead early in the first half before back-to-back treys from McGrath and Smith kickstarted a 16-4 spurt. Two more strikes from behind the arc stretched the lead to double figures at the half, as GM led 43-31, at the break.
The Griffins smallest lead in the second half was nine points as GM cruised to their first win of the calendar year.

Junior Brittany Neill (Woodlyn, Pa./Archmere Academy Del.) totaled 11 rebounds, five points, and four assists.
Gwynedd resumes action on Tuesday when they take on Montclair State at 7 p.m. in Upper Montclair, N.J.
