ALLENTOWN, PA. – Gwynedd-Mercy had six players in double figures in the Griffins' 92-66 CSAC win at Cedar Crest on Saturday.
The Griffins (9-5), who had season-highs in points and field goals made, improve to 5-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
Junior Brittany Neill (Woodlyn, Pa./Archmere Academy Del.) led the charge, scoring a team-high 17 points. Senior Stacey Judge (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) recorded personal highs with 14 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, 21 out of GM's 47 total rebounds were on the offensive side, leading to 27 second-chance points.
Cedar Crest's Lizzy Sunderhaus totaled 24 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists, all game highs. Leann Wallower added 17, but the Falcons were forced into 19 turnovers, which lead to 21 GM points.
Freshman Jordan Dominic (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) hit one of the team's nine three-pointers on the day to give GM a 10-point edge with just under eight minutes in the first half. The lead grew to 13 as the Griffins led 46-33 at halftime.
The second half picked up where the first led off, as Gwynedd shot 45% from the floor while holding Cedar Crest to just a 36% stint.
Dominic finished with 10 points. Freshman Lauren Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and Nicole Dougherty (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) each had 11. Senior Kristy McGrath (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) chipped in 12 for GM.
The Griffins are back on the road on Monday, playing at the College of Notre Dame in a league game starting at 7 p.m.
