GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Behind a season-high 14 three-pointers, the Gwynedd-Mercy Women's Basketball team bested Baptist Bible, 75-56, in Colonial States Athletic Conference action Thursday night.
The Griffins (8-5, 4-1 CSAC) hit seven treys in each half, led by junior Brittany Neill (Woodlyn, Pa./Archmere Academy Del.) who connected for five of them finishing with 15 points. Senior Kristy McGrath (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) added three while totaling a game-high 22 points and nine rebounds.
Kelly Bargfeldt led the Defenders (7-7, 2-4 CSAC), who led by six early in the contest, with 22 points. Ruth Butts added 16.
Gwynedd shook off a slow start which found them down 13-7 four minutes into the game by using a 10-0 run and later a three-point barrage from Neill and McGrath. The duo would hit from downtown to stretch an 11-point lead into a 36-19 lead. Neill struck again before the end of the half to make it a 44-23 GM lead at the break.
Junior Danielle Foreman (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) would hit from three-point range with 10:19 in the second to give the Griffins their biggest lead of the contest (67-33).
GM held a considerable advantage on the glass, totaling 60 rebounds (26 offensive) to BBC's 33. Neill grabbed eight and teammates Cara McArdle (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and Taylour Alston (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) each pulled in seven apiece.
The Griffins return to action on Saturday with a CSAC matchup at Cedar Crest starting at 1 p.m.
