Three-Point Barrage Helps Griffins Handle Neumann

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy College used an impressive shooting display to defeat Neumann University 93-66 Monday night in a Colonial States Athletic Conference matchup.
The Griffins (9-4, 4-2 CSAC) got out to a 10-point half time advantage thanks to eight first-half threes. They finished the game 12-for-19 from downtown while the Knights (7-6) shot only 6-29 from beyond the arc.
Senior Jon Crabtree (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) scored 18 of his game-high 23 points in the first half including a 4 point-play with 1:27 left in the half to push the Gwynedd lead to 42-31. Senior Dan DelConte (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) added 22 points. The two seniors finished a combined 11 for 14 from behind the three-point line. Sophomore Frank Champion (Northfield, N.J./Mainland) quietly added a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The Griffins spread the ball around effectively with seven players scoring at least five points and 23 assists in the contest.
Patrick O'Connor scored 19 points and Marquise Boggs added 16 in the loss for Neumann (7-6, 3-2 CSAC).
Along with their outstanding long distance shooting, Gwynedd also outscored Neumann 44 to 22 in the paint and shot 60% from the field for the game.
The win was the second in a row for the Griffins. They look to continue the streak Thursday at home against Baptist Bible in CSAC action beginning at 8 p.m.
