true Cabrini 86, Gwynedd-Mercy 83 OT
Box Score
RADNOR, PA. – Engaged in a tight contest throughout, it was Cabrini and Gwynedd-Mercy going into overtime where the Cavaliers won an 86-83 seesaw decision Thursday night.
Neither team led by more than seven points as the game featured 16 lead changes and seven ties as Cabrini prevailed in extra time.
Junior
Dan DelConte (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) led all scorers, netting a career-high 24 points while draining four of the team's six three-pointers. Senior
Jon Hogga (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) added 11 points but grabbed a personal-best 20 rebounds.
Cory Lemons came off the bench for Cabrini to score 21 points, including six in the overtime period.
Hogga almost singlehandedly rallied the Griffins in overtime as his three-point play with five seconds pulled GM within three. He would grab a rebound off a missed free throw and actually have a look at a tying bucket but could not get it to fall.
Earlier in the contest, GM (3-2, 1-1 CSAC) had their biggest lead of the game as DelConte scored on a layup for a 34-27 lead with 1:47 in the first half, but the Cavs answered with back-to-back three-pointers from Fran Rafferty to cut it to one point. Gwynedd would lead 36-33 at the break.
Cabrini held a five-point lead with just over a minute in regulation but not before a bucket from senior
Jon Crabtree (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) and a big three-point play from DelConte with 24 ticks left to knot things up at 72-72.
Lemons opened the overtime period with a three-pointer in which Gwynedd could not recover from.
Crabtree finished with 15 points and nine boards. Freshman
Brandyn Wims (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) scored 16 points off the bench while
Brandon Sharp (Hammonton, N.J./St. Joseph's) chipped in 11.
The Griffins will welcome Philadelphia Biblical on Monday in conference action in an 8 p.m. start.
