GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Four players finished in double figures in Gwynedd-Mercy's season-opening 106-59 win over Rutgers-Camden Tuesday evening at the Griffin Complex.

Senior Jon Hogga (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) scored a game-high 22 points with six rebounds and five assists to lead the Griffins (1-0). Fellow senior Jon Crabtree (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) added 17 points with seven boards, while juniors Dan Delconte (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) chipped in 15 and Brian Reid (Philadelphia, Pa./Mastery Charter) scored 10.

From the opening tip, Gwynedd erased a 5-0 deficit by scoring 10-straight points and did not look back. That scoring wave was followed by a 30-9 spurt over the next 10 minutes as GM would shoot 56% (21-of-37) in the first half, and lead 47-26 at the break.

The Scarlet-Raptors would get as close as 19 midway in the second, but Gwynedd was just too tough, shooting an impressive 55% (21-of-38) in the stanza

Alex Rislin was one of three Scarlet Raptors in double digits, netting 12 points and adding six boards. Kyle Bowman scored 11 while Kevin Brown added 10. As a team, RU-C was just 21-of-64 (32%) for the contest.

GM held a 48-29 rebound edge and forced 28 turnovers which led to 37 points.

The Griffins return to action on Friday as they play at Division I High Point University in High Point, North Carolina. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
