Fryns Header Scores AEC Women’s Soccer Weekly Honor Roll Recognition
Lancaster, Pa. – (9/19/2022) – Freshman midfielder Dakota Fryns (Dracut, Mass.) scored Gwynedd Mercy University's lone goal of a 1-1 tie with Rosemont College to earn recognition on this week's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women's Soccer Honor Roll. She finished the week with a team-high six shots.
Gwynedd Mercy University (2-3-2) welcomed Lancaster Bible College to the Athletic Complex on Tuesday (Sept. 13) night. The Chargers scored three early goals (6:03, 9:43, 13:25) in the first half and never looked back in a 4-0 final. Fyns finished the game with three shots.
The Griffins bounced back the next night as senior defender Claudia Krouse (Southampton, Pa.) served a perfect pass to the oncoming head of Fryns in the 73rd minute (1-0, 72:16) of an eventual 1-1 tie with Rosemont College (1-1-1). To character, the tightly played game was tied by the Ravens just over two minutes later (1-1, 74:42) and it remained that way through the end of regulation Fryns led the Griffins with three shots and her first collegiate goal.
Saturday's (Sept. 17) competition brought Gwynedd Mercy University to Bryn Athyn College, where the Lions landed a four-goal victory - 4-0 - thanks to a 43-4 shot advantage. Freshman forward Bethany Beinlich (Forksville, Pa.) fired three of the Griffins' four shots, while freshmen goalkeeper Madisson Ronn (Warrington, Pa.) fell a save shy of the program's all-time single-game save mark with 21 stops in the loss (1-2-1). Fryns failed to record a shot.
Gwynedd Mercy University continues their schedule on Wednesday, September 21, when they visit Cairn University for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
