Baumeister Returns to AEC Softball Weekly Honor Roll

Lancaster, Pa. – (3/24/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University fifth-year pitcher/infielder Jocelyn Baumeister (Willow Grove, Pa.) returned to the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Softball Weekly Honor Roll despite going 0-3 in starts versus Penn State Brandywine (L, 2-3 on Mar. 18), Haverford College (L, 1-6 on Mar. 20), and Penn State Berks (L, 0-3 on Mar. 22). She garnered the honor by holding the Griffins' opponents to eight earned runs on 13 hits and three walks over 19.2 innings, but also struck out 21 while going 3-for-13 (.231) at the plate. Baumeister scored a run and recorded four clutch runs-batted-in (RBI).

Neumann University junior catcher Emily Ammon (Gap, Pa.) was named the AEC Softball Player of the Week, while Marymount University junior Bailey Demusz (Doylestown, Pa.) garnered the AEC Softball Pitcher of the Week title. Baumeister was joined on the AEC Softball Weekly Honor Roll by Marywood University freshman pitcher/outfielder Brianna Voyer (Mineola, N.Y.) and junior third baseman/shortstop Tori Para (Inkerman, Pa.), Neumann University graduate pitcher/utility Marina Costello (Swedesboro, N.J.), Marymount University junior utility Kaylee Atkins (Chesapeake, Va.), Immaculata University fifth-year shortstop/pitcher Jess Oldham (Wilmington, Del.), and Centenary University (N.J.) junior D’Ani Morales (Passaic, N.J.).

Baumeister pinched hit in the sixth inning of a 5-4 game-one loss to Penn State Brandywine and singled in a pair to narrow the gap to its final measure. She started the second game of the doubleheader and took the loss despite holding the Nittany Lions to one earned run on six hits and two walks. Baumeister struck out 10 in the outing; it was her second game with 10 strikeouts or more this season. She also was 1-for-3 with a run at the plate as she scored the first run of the game on a second-inning error by the Penn State Brandywine third baseman (1-0).

Baumeister took the circle again in the Griffins’ second game against Haverford College. She held a 1-0 lead through four innings thanks to a historic second-inning solo blast from freshman catcher Makayla Mihelcic (Souderton, Pa.). Unfortunately, the Fords rallied with four runs in the fifth inning, 4-1, and two runs in the seventh inning of a 6-1 final. Baumeister allowed five earned runs on 10 hits and a walk. She struck out six over 7.0 innings.

Baumeister also went 0-for-3 in a 3-0 game-one loss to Penn State Berks. In game two, she plated two runs with a first-inning error at shortstop and singled, but remained stranded in the third inning.

Gwynedd Mercy University is scheduled to play next on Wednesday, March 26, when they visit Penn State Abington for a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader.
