Eggers Earns AEC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll Recognition

Lancaster, Pa. – (11/20/2023) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior guard Lynzie Eggers (Washington Township, N.J.) averaged 17.5 points per game (PPG) and 5.5 rebounds per game (RPG), while recording two assists and five steals in an 0-2 week versus Arcadia University (L, 56-82 on Nov. 15) and Wilkes University (L, 65-67 (OT) on Nov. 18). Her effort earned her a spot on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll. She was joined there by Centenary University (NJ) graduate forward Carmen Escano (Passaic, N.J.) as well as Immaculata University senior forward Tessa Liberatoscioli (Malvern, Pa.) and junior forward Abigail Lentowski (Covington Township, Pa.). Marymount University teammates, fifth-year guard Symantha Shackelford (Woodbridge, Va.) and senior guard Chandler Eddleton (Richmond, Va.) were respectively recognized as the AEC Player and Defensive Player of the Week.

Gwynedd Mercy University (3-2) played in their eighth annual Battle of 309 with Wednesday’s (Nov. 15) trip to Arcadia University (2-0). There, a slow start offensively - 16% (5-of-31) from the field - would be too much to overcome in the Griffins’ first loss of the 2023-2024 season; 82-56. Eggers matched fellow senior, guard Ava Casale (Washington Township, N.J.) for a team-high 14 points on 4-of-13 shooting. She also recorded five rebounds and two steals in the affair.

On Saturday (Nov. 18), Gwynedd Mercy University welcomed Wilkes University (2-0) to the Griffin Complex. The Griffins started off well, grabbing a 33-21 halftime lead before the Colonels reversed fortunes with a 36-24 second half. Unfortunately, Wilkes University scored the first three baskets of the extra frame to narrowly escape Gwynedd Mercy University’s rallying spirit in a 67-65 overtime loss. Eggers did her best to win the game with a game-high 21 points (6-of-22, .273). She also recorded six rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action on Tuesday, November 21, when they welcome Penn State Harrisburg to the Griffin Complex for a 5:00 p.m. tipoff.
