DeSimone and Greene Garner AEC Runners of the Week Awards

Keely Greene (Philadelphia, Pa.) were respectively recognized as the Atlantic East Conference (AEC)
Men’s and
Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week after their recent finishes at Lebanon Valley College’s Last Chance Run Fast Meet (Oct. 20). DeSimone (82
nd, 31:26.75) led the Griffins to a 13
th-place finish (13
th of 15 373 points) in the men’s eight kilometer (8K), while Greene (21
st, 27:19.84) was the first Griffin to cross in a women’s 6K that saw the Red and Gold finish 5
th in an 11-team field (5
th of 11, 139 points).
Gwynedd Mercy University enjoyed their last tune-up before the upcoming AEC Championship Meet with Friday night’s visit to Lebanon Valley College for the Last Chance Run Fast Meet. The Griffin men placed 13
th of 15 (373 points) in the field thanks to DeSimone’s Top-100 time. Navy won the event (1
st of 15, 15 points) with the Top-5 finishers and eight of the Top-10; the pack was led by first-place finisher junior Sean Miller (Ellicott City, Md.) (1st, 25:53.51).
Gwynedd Mercy University placed 5
th of 11 (139 points) in the women’s 6K field thanks to Top-30 times from Greene and fellow senior,
Alicia Bennett (Philadelphia, Pa.) (28th, 27:57.93). Navy won (1st of 11, 15 points) this event as well with the Top-8 finishers; the pack was led by first-place finisher freshman Lexi Ensor (Severna Park, Md.) (1st, 23:28.98).
Gwynedd Mercy University races next on Saturday, October 28, when they meet their conference rivals at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia, for the AEC Championship Meet.
