John Hiron, a former player and coach for the Australian National team, has joined the staff of the men’s lacrosse program. Hiron, from Perth in Western Australia, was the captain of the Australian U19 team in 1981, played for the Australian National team from 1989-93 and was a member of the National team that took third in the 1990 World Cup. He also played and coached at the Australian club and state level, and was an assistant coach for the 2002 World Cup team. Hiron was a player selector for the 2002 and 2006 World Cup teams.
From 2011-2015 he was the head coach at Council Rock South High School. Previous to that, Hiron was an assistant with New Hope Solebury-High School, and assisted current Griffin assistant Paul McGovern at Council Rock South.
Coach Hiron will work primarily with the face off and man up units, along with assisting Coach Lindstrom on the offensive side of the ball.
