Sean McGinn is entering his third season as an assistant with the Gwynedd Mercy University Men's Basketball Team in 2019-20. Prior to Gwynedd Mercy, Coach McGinn most recently worked at Division II Wilmington University and Division III Haverford College alongside coach Harrison Singer as an assistant for the men’s teams at both schools. His primary responsibilities in both programs included film breakdown, preparation of scouting reports, recruiting, practice planning, and player development with his expertise focusing primarily with the forwards and centers.
At Wilmington and Haverford, McGinn helped recruit strong recruiting classes as well as Haverford's first Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year during the 2015-2016 season.
A 2014 graduate of Immaculata University, McGinn earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science/Sports Management with a minor in Business Administration. He played for the Mighty Macs men's basketball team for two seasons, leading them to an appearance in the Colonial States Athletic Conference semifinals in 2012. McGinn graduated from Archbishop Wood High School in 2010, where he was a member of the basketball team for all four years.
Outside of basketball, Coach McGinn was an assistant for the Philadelphia Maccabi 16U men’s team that won a silver medal in the 2014 Maccabi Games in Detroit, Michigan and a gold medal in the 2015 Maccabi Games in Ft.Lauderdale, Florida. In recent summers, McGinn has been involved with the legendary Sonny Hill College League in Philadelphia. He also served as an instructor for The Hoop Group Elite Basketball Camps, Brown University Elite Basketball Camp, Yale University Elite Basketball Camp, Penn University Elite Basketball Camp and Columbia University Elite Basketball Camp along with other Academic Elite Summer Camps during the summer months. During the summer of 2014, McGinn also served as a camp coach counselor with the PMBL (Philadelphia Men's Basketball League) for their third annual Treasure Beach Basketball Camp that they hold every year in Treasure Beach, Jamaica that helps bring and teach the game of basketball to hundreds of underprivileged kids.
McGinn resides in Hatboro, Pa., and currently works as a Rehab Office Coordinator for Genesis Rehab Services in Ambler and Warrington, Pa.
