Matt Santoro

Matt Santoro joined the Gwynedd Mercy University men’s basketball program as an assistant coach and the video coordinator prior to the 2022-2023 season. Coach Santoro comes to Gwynedd Mercy University after four seasons as a student manager for the men’s basketball program at the University of Pittsburgh (2018-2022). With the Panthers, he was responsible for several vital components their success including practice and game day operations, travel, nutrition and hydration, filming and breaking down practice and game film on Sportscode, player development, as well as the management of his fellow student managers.
 
Coach Santoro was named a head manager during his senior year at the University of Pittsburgh, focusing his skills on the implementation of video analysis and road trip preparation. He assisted in the development of future National Basketball Association (NBA) players Justin Champagnie (Toronto Raptors) and Malik Ellison (Atlanta Hawks) while learning from Head Coach Jeff Capel III; a previous associate head coach with Duke University who served on the 2015 National Championship coaching staff.
 
Coach Santoro hails from Newtown, Pennsylvania, where he was a 2018 graduate of La Salle College High School. There, he also supported the varsity basketball team as a manager under head coach Joseph Dempsey. As a manager, Santoro was responsible for tracking statistics using analytical break downs provided by Hudl.
 
Santoro graduated Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh in May of 2022 with a dual degree in Finance and Marketing. Outside of basketball, he currently works as an associate consultant at Beacon Hill Financial in Exton, Pennsylvania.
