Julian Falana

Julian Falana is entering his third season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Gwynedd Mercy University in 2013-14.

His primary responsibilities include, reaching out to high school student-athletes and coaches, attending open-gyms, collaborating with admissions, coordinating and giving unofficial/official visits, organizing mailings, and coordinating home game visits for recruits. Coach Falana actively recruited, assisted with the program’s summer camp, and was named the program’s recruiting coordinator.

Coach Falana was previously an assistant coach at Abington High School, where his primary responsibilities included bench coaching, player development, and conditioning. During the 2010-11 season, Julian was personally invested in the success and improvement of his players into all-league selections.

He continues to build a significant network of high school players and coaches in the Philadelphia region through his extensive work with basketball camps and local YMCA work. He was the basketball camp instructor for the Abington YMCA from 2009-10 and had an off-season basketball clinic in the spring of 2010 for high school players in the local area. Coach Falana has worked camps for the Philadelphia 76ers, Hoop Rootz, Villanova University, and Herb Magee Basketball. During the summers, Julian works as coach and assistant camp director for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Julian is currently working towards graduating in May 2014 with a Master’s in Education in Classroom Climate and Management. Julian is a 6th Grade Science Teacher at Birney Preparatory Academy. He is single and resides in Philadelphia, Pa.
