Collegeville, Pa. – (9/8/2026) – The Gwynedd Mercy University (2-1) women's soccer team saw its two-match winning streak come to an end Tuesday evening, as the Griffins suffered their first loss of the 2026 campaign in a 5-0 setback to Ursinus College (2-1).
Griffin Highlights:
- The Griffins were tested early by an aggressive Ursinus attack, but sophomore goalkeeper Zoe Davis (Riverside, N.J.) provided several key stops throughout the opening half.
- Davis continued to battle between the posts, making consecutive saves in the 21st and 23rd minutes. Ursinus added its third goal at 23:05, but the Griffin goalkeeper responded with another stop later in the period.
- Gwynedd Mercy generated its best offensive opportunity of the opening half in the 30th minute. Senior midfielder Rebecca Gordon (Sicklerville, N.J.) pushed forward and registered the Griffins' first shot of the contest, sending her attempt just over the crossbar. The Griffins kept Ursinus from adding to its advantage over the remainder of the period and entered halftime trailing 3-0.
- The Griffins' defense continued to work under pressure after halftime. Davis made back-to-back during the opening minutes of the second half.
- Davis finished the full 90 minutes with a career-high ten saves, recording five in each half. Gordon accounted for Gwynedd Mercy's lone shot, while the Griffins earned one second-half corner kick.
Gwynedd Mercy is back on Saturday, September 12, when the team travels to Penn State Berks with a scheduled 12:00 p.m. start.
