Gwynedd Valley, Pa. —9/23/2026- The Gwynedd Mercy University men's soccer team (1-6-1) battled through a challenging non-conference matchup Wednesday evening resulting in a 6-0 setback to McDaniel College. The Griffins found another gear offensively in the second half, recording seven of their eight total shots after halftime, while the goalkeeper tandem of
Ethan Zimmerman (Myerstown, Pa.) and
Kevin Harter (Springfield, N.J.) combined for seven saves.
Griffin Highlights
- McDaniel opened the scoring on a penalty kick in the ninth minute [8:37] before adding three more goals during the opening half [23:20, 31:03, 32:05]. The Green Terror added two goals during the final 45 minutes [80:44, 84:37].
- Gwynedd Mercy's best offensive opportunities came after halftime, when the Griffins increased their attacking pressure and registered seven shots. Though the Red and Gold out-shot McDaniel 7-6 in the second half, but they were unable to recover from the first half, where McDaniel shot 26 times as compared to one shot. Gunnar Christensen (Finksburg, Md.) paced the Griffins with three shots, including two shots on goal, accounting for three of Gwynedd Mercy's four first-team shots on target.
- The Green Terror did their best to utilize corner kicks to their advantage, notching 11 throughout the game as compared to the Griffins' lone kick.
The Griffins return to action Saturday, September 26, when they travel to Stevenson University for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference contest.
