Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (7/23/2026) – For a third straight year, during the month of October – recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month – the Gwynedd Mercy University field hockey, women's volleyball, cross country, track and field, women's basketball, men's lacrosse, and women's lacrosse teams will be partnering with METAvivor and the Side-Out Foundation for a series of Breast Cancer Awareness Games. Dubbed "Griffins Go Pink", the initiative will include the Red and Gold's field hockey game versus St. Mary's College of Maryland on October 3 (3:00 p.m.) and the women's volleyball match versus Saint Elizabeth University on October 28 (6:00 p.m.). Fans, friends, and families of Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics can purchase "Griffins Go Pink" T-Shirts -available in a variety of sizes (S-XXL) for a cost of $15 apiece through the GMercyU marketplace. Anyone who wants their shirt for the beginning of October needs to fill out an order by August 19^th. (A maximum of ten shirts at a time at checkout.)

METAvivor is dedicated to the specific fight of women and men living with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. At the time of METAvivor's founding, no organization was dedicated to funding research for the disease and no patient groups were speaking out about the dearth of stage 4 cancer research. While more and more people have taken up the cry for more stage 4 research, METAvivor remains the sole US organization dedicated to awarding annual stage 4 breast cancer research. Every year thousands of volleyball athletes from around the country participate in The Side-Out Foundation's Dig Pink® program. Middle school, high school, college, club, and adult teams will advocate for those living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) in their communities while raising funds for the Side-Out Foundation. Donations from Dig Pink events support metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients' participation in Side-Out's Precision Medicine Analysis Program in addition to supporting the foundation's own ongoing breast cancer research.
