Gwynedd Mercy University Men's Volleyball Assistant Coaches; Ethan Cox, Cole Santora
Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (4/14/2026) – Gwynedd Mercy University Head Men's Volleyball Coach Amber Medycki is pleased to officially welcome Ethan Cox and Cole Santora as assistants for the Red and Gold's inaugural season. "With the talented assistants I've brought on board, I'm confident we're building a strong foundation for a successful and competitive future." Cox recently served as an assistant coach with Central Bucks West High School (2024-2025), while Santora was a head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach at Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School (2022-2025/2026); both Coach Cox (2024-2026) and Coach Santora (2022-2026) are members of the staff at the TNT Volleyball Bunker of Wales, Pennsylvania.

"I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity and excited to give back to a sport that's given me so much," said Coach Cox. "My experience as a middle blocker taught me that volleyball is won in the details, such as reading the opponent's offense, staying disciplined in your positioning, and trusting the system you've built together as a team. I want to bring that same mindset to our players." In addition to serving as an assistant coach for Central Bucks West boys' volleyball team for two seasons, Cox also joined the girls' staff for the 2025 campaign. Prior to coaching, he was a starting middle blocker at Widener University from 2020 to 2024. There, Cox totaled 529.5 points (345 kills, 86 aces, 151 block assists, 23 solo blocks), 15 assists, and 109 digs while starting in 71 of 74 matches for the Pride. He was also a member of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) All-Academic Team in 2021 and 2022. Coach Cox's philosophy is to, "Compete with intelligence, communicate relentlessly, and take pride in the parts of the game that don't always show up in the stat sheet. I can't wait to see what this group of players has to offer and to get to work."

Coach Santora issued a similar statement about accepting his position with the Red and Gold, "I'm happy to make my college coaching debut in the sport that marked so many good years of my adolescence. I'm also proud to be given the opportunity to help build a program so close to where I spent those formative years." Santora helped lead Gwynedd Mercy Academy's varsity team to its first postseason appearance in 2023 and directed the junior varsity to a victory at the Rally in the Valley Tournament in 2024. He began playing volleyball competitively in 2010 with the Panther Volleyball Club (2013-2016) of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Originally a middle blocker, he transitioned to a six-position outside hitter while playing on the Abington High School varsity roster (2014-2017). Santora was a United States of America Volleyball (USAV) Nationals - Silver Champion in 2014 and 2016, as well as, a Battle at the Castle Tournament Champion in 2015. A big proponent of analysis and strategy, Coach Santora believes, "Form is king, proper technique will allow you greater command of your body and the game. That and smart, aggressive play will win games."

Both Coach Cox and Coach Santora will serve as staff members for the 2026 Griffins Boys' and Girls' Volleyball Summer Camps taking place Monday, July 27, through Wednesday, July 29, and Thursday, July 30, through Saturday, August 1.
