Griffins Trade Blows Early, Show Fight Against Unbeaten Immaculata

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (2/7/2026) – Gwynedd Mercy University (6-15, 3-7 AEC) hosted Immaculata University (17-3, 9-0 AEC) in their final match of the 2025 season as the Griffins looked to hand the powerhouse Mighty Macs their first Atlantic East Conference (AEC) loss on the season. Gwynedd Mercy came out with a strong opening first half performance, but a 22-9 4th quarter stint from Immaculata would be the demise of the red and gold as the team fell 83-60. Junior guard Rachel Dunn (Lansdale, Pa.) anchored the effort with a strong all-around performance, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds while battling inside against Immaculata's size. Junior guard Alyssa Cresto (Newark, Del.) matched Dunn with 16 points, knocking down four three-pointers and providing a spark off the bench that helped keep the Griffins close into halftime.

Griffin Highlights:

  • Gwynedd Mercy came out firing, shooting 43.8 percent in the first quarter and knocking down four three-pointers to stay within striking distance early. Gwynedd Mercy trailed just 22–19 after one quarter and continued to apply pressure in the second, cutting the deficit to as little as one point (31–30) midway through the frame.
  • Gwynedd Mercy continued to compete in the third quarter, attacking the paint and getting to the free-throw line to offset a cold shooting stretch. Senior forward Erin Eisenhart (Bethlehem, Pa.) contributed seven points and eight rebounds, while sophomore guard Kailyn Bell (Ridley Park, Pa.) chipped in seven points, including a perfect 4-for-4 effort from the foul line. The Griffins finished the afternoon with 29 bench points, highlighting their depth and energy.
  • Defensively, Gwynedd Mercy forced 16 turnovers and converted them into transition opportunities, while also grabbing 15 offensive rebounds to generate second chance looks. Sophomore guard Brianna McFadden (Fairless Hills, Pa.) added six points and a steal, and junior forward Azzy Crumpton (Conshohocken, Pa.) provided interior defense and physicality throughout her minutes.

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action on Wednesday, February 11, when the team hosts Marymount University for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
