Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (2/11/2026) – Gwynedd Mercy University (7-15, 4-7 AEC), with their playoff hopes on the line, welcomed Marymount University (11-11, 8-3 AEC) to the Griffin Complex in a key Atlantic East Conference (AEC) showdown. Gwynedd Mercy University finished with of its strongest defensive performances of the season Wednesday night, holding the Saints to just 27.9 percent (17-of-61) shooting en route to a 56–44 victory. Junior guard Rachel Dunn (Lansdale, Pa.) paced the Griffins with a game/career-high 19 points and 11 rebounds, shooting an efficient 8-of-17 (47%) from the field. Dunn was especially dominant in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 points in the final frame and sealing the victory at the free-throw line.
Griffin Highlights:
- The Griffins seized control from the opening tip, racing out to a 17–7 first-quarter lead while forcing contested shots and limiting Marymount to just 2-of-18 shooting (11.1%) in the period. Gwynedd Mercy never relinquished the advantage, building a lead as large as 15 points in the second quarter and leading for nearly the entire contest.
- Senior forward Erin Eisenhart (Bethlehem, Pa.) provided another steady all-around effort with 12 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and a block, while knocking down a pair of early three-pointers to spark the first-quarter run.
- Freshman guard Layla Verbit (Sellersville, Pa.) added 10 points and five rebounds, and junior forward Azzy Crumpton (Conshohocken, Pa.) contributed six points and six boards in the paint.
- Sophomore guard Alexis Kanzinger (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.) helped keep the Saints off balance all night on defense with her brilliant facilitating on the offensive end. Kanzinger finished with a career-high ten assists as well as four rebounds, one steal, and two points.
- Defensively, Gwynedd Mercy forced 24 turnovers, converting them into 16 points, and controlled the interior with 30 points in the paint.
- The Griffins also owned the glass in key moments, finishing with 47 total rebounds and 18 second-chance points, repeatedly extending possessions.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action on Saturday, February 14, when the team travels to Neumann University for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
