Scranton, Pa. - (2/4/2026) – Gwynedd Mercy University (6-14, 3-6 AEC) delivered a resilient and competitive performance Tuesday night, winning the third quarter and battling to the final minutes before falling, 63–53, to Marywood University (10-10, 5-4) in Atlantic East Conference action. Junior forward Azzy Crumpton (Conshohocken, Pa.) led the Griffins with a team-high 14 points and eight rebounds, attacking the paint and getting to the free-throw line (3-5, 60%) throughout the night. Crumpton was 5-of-15 (33%) from the field, including five offensive boards, an assist, and three steals.

- After a challenging first half, the Griffins came out of the locker room with renewed energy, outscoring Marywood 19–16 in the third quarter to cut into the deficit and shift momentum (52-40). Gwynedd Mercy also matched Marywood on the glass with 46 rebounds, highlighted by aggressive offensive rebounding and interior play.
- Freshman guard Layla Verbit (Sellersville, Pa.) added eight points, while sophomore guard Kailyn Bell (Sellersville, Pa.) provided a spark off the bench with eight points, four rebounds, and a steady backcourt play.
- Defensively, Gwynedd Mercy forced 17 turnovers and converted them into 19 points, using pressure defense to create transition opportunities. Junior forward Rachel Dunn (Lansdale, Pa.) anchored the effort with eight rebounds, five steals, and two blocks, while senior forward Erin Eisenhart (Bethlehem, Pa.) contributed 12 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in a strong all-around performance.
- Griffins continued to push late in the fourth quarter, trimming the margin to 10 points in the final two minutes following baskets from sophomore guard Alexis Kanzinger (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.) and Bell.
