Dallas, Pa. - (9/6/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (0-3) traveled to Misericordia University (2-0-1) for a Saturday matinee matchup. Senior midfielder Joe Deitzel (Lansdale, Pa.) scored not only the first goal of the 2025 season for the Griffins, but also netted his first collegiate goal of his career (6-1). Ultimately, it was the Cougars who got the better of the Red and Gold as they started the contest by scoring six unanswered goals, leading to the 6-1 defeat. Sophomore Cody Sell (Souderton, Pa.) started his first game of the 2025 season and finished with a season high eight saves throughout the contest in the defeat (0-1).             

Griffin Highlights: 

• Misericordia was able to dictate the pace of play most of the contest, with the Cougars leading the Griffins in shots (16-6), shots on goal (14-2), and corner kicks (6-3).  
• Only sophomore midfielder Gunnar Christensen (Finksburg, Md.) finished with multiple shots in the contest (2). Christensen is first in shots for his team on the season (7) and has four more than the next Griffin behind him.  

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the Athletic Complex as the team hosts Penn State Brandywine on Monday, September 8, for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
