Frederick, Md. - (9/27/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy (2-7) showed determination on Saturday afternoon, creating chances and standing tall in goal despite a tough 7-0 setback at Hood College (4-5).
The Griffins' defensive unit faced a relentless Blazers attack but rose to the challenge with standout goalkeeping. Junior goalkeeper Nikki Williams (Cinnaminson, N.J.) (1-3) anchored the backline with a season-high 12 saves in just over 51 minutes of action, keeping Gwynedd Mercy within striking distance through much of the contest. Sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Weaver (Flemington, N.J.) closed the match in the cage and added a save of her own to bring the team total to 13.
Offensively, the Griffins pushed forward throughout the match, registering seven total shots and six penalty corners. Senior forward Mackenzie Reed (Philadelphia, Pa.) was a spark up front, recording a game-high three shots for the red and gold, including one on target. Junior midfielder Morgan Hoban (Cinnaminson, N.J.) also tested the Hood keeper with a shot on goal, while freshman forward Gianna Radcliffe (Harleysville, Pa.), senior defender Abby LePage (Cinnaminson, N.J.), and senior defender Lillie Uttenreither (Bel Air, Md.) all contributed to the attack with a shot of their own.
