Griffins Lose to Devils Despite Strong Forward Play

Madison, N.J., - (10/1/2025) -  It was a tough night for the Gwynedd Mercy University Griffins (2-8), who lost a 0-2 road game against the Fairleigh Dickinson University Florham Park Devils (4-5).  The Red and Gold started hot with shots from Mackenzie Reed (Philadelphia, Pa) (10:46 Q1, 10:44 Q1), Gianna Radcliffe (Harleysville, Pa) (10:35 Q1), and Rhyan Poole (North Wales, Pa) (10:26 Q1), however none were able to convert to goals.  The Devils started the second quarter with a focus on their attacking side of the field, punching a goal just 2 minutes and 40 seconds later.

The second half continued the first half battle, and the Griffins again had opportunities to score.  Morgan Hoban (Cinnaminson, N.J.) took a penalty corner in the third quarter (8:13 Q3), and though the Griffins had three additional shots (8:15 Q3, 8:16 Q3, 10:22 Q3), and despite the team effort to get the ball in the goal they were unable to convert through the rest of the game.

Griffin Highlights:

  • Junior goalkeeper Nikki Williams (Cinnaminson, N.J.) had another strong game with nine saves in the loss.  Williams reached her 100th career save earlier this season and is currently 6th in program history.

  • The Devils won the battle for penalties, with 24 to the Griffins' 31.  Similarly, the Devils also had more penalty corners (9-4).

  • The freshmen forward duo of Gianna Radcliffe (Harleysville, Pa) and Rhyan Poole (North Wales, Pa) combined for six shots, five of which were put on goal.

Gwynedd Mercy will next travel to Albright College for a 11 a.m. matchup on Saturday, October 4.
